Early in the summer, Daddy had something unusual come up at work and had to spend a whole month away! We braced ourselves to miss him a LOT, but tried to have great attitudes about it have a lot of fun during that time. Looking back on it, I'm surprised at how well it went - it can be hard to be the only parent around to do the bedtime routine, make the meals, do the dishes, etc. But I'm sure God was helping us, as we made regular check-ins with each other about remembering the Golden Rule and loving each other well while Daddy was away.
Hope and Grant were awesome. They were good sports and had good attitudes, almost all the time. We had lots of goofy times, some fun adventures, and plenty of playdates. They missed their Daddy a LOT, but FaceTimed him whenever possible and looked forward to the couple of visits over the weekends. He was able to come home for Father's Day, and the following weekend we were supposed to go see him but he ended up coming home again because we had some tornado damage to deal with! That was certainly unexpected and scary, but we were lucky it was just some trees, shingles, and watermarks on the ceilings.
