Grant and his Daddy look so much alike, and they act so much alike! There are notable differences in their personalities though, and like any father and son I'd imagine, it can sometimes cause them to butt heads. Fortunately, and to Daddy's immense credit, those places where they're different don't often lead to conflict but to a commitment to press into the issue and understand each other and come out on the other side of it. I hope they continue to operate that way as Grant grows up!
Aside from all the things they like to do and play together, and the way they amuse each other so much, I think one of the very best things about their relationship is "buddy time." They've both told me, independent of the other, that it's one of their favorite things.
Buddy time happens before Hope and I are even awake in the morning. Daddy always gets up super early to exercise and read his Bible, so he's usually around when Grant gets up (at "six-zero-zero"). They spend anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour playing Legos, Nerf guns, watching videos, or snuggling on the couch. Occasionally there's an early-morning run for donuts, or some kind of science project they create for themselves!
Grant told me that when he's a daddy he'll have buddy time with his son - and I think that speaks volumes to how important buddy time is to him!

I don't know anyone who has had the kind of sensitive and
secure and adventurous childhood that Hope and Grant are
blessed to living. What beautiful memories they will have......
