This morning, Hope rediscovered a toy cat that's been buried in the toy bins for months. I reminded her that she used to call him Chris the Cat. For an hour or so, he stayed Chris the Cat. Then we discussed how he's orange, like O'Malley (a cat in Aristocats).
Me: Would you like to call him O'Malley Cat instead?
Hope: No. I like to call him ...
Me: What would you like to call him?
Hope: I call him O'Meowy Cat!
Honestly, that's a pretty good joke when you're 2! I was impressed. So, O'Meowy Cat he remained through lunchtime and while I tucked her in for her nap.
Now, I can count on one hand the number of times Hope has gotten out of bed after being tucked in. She's very good about the "once you're tucked in, you stay in" rule. But she just came out of her room, very excitedly, insisting that she HAD to tell me something.
What's the news that just can't wait until after naptime? The cat has had a name change again. "Now he name Oliver and Company."
