Wild weather and wacky kids

Last week we had an earthquake AND a hurricane. Weird, right? Fortunately we didn't have any trouble from either one. Grant didn't even wake up from his nap for the 5.8 earthquake! The hurricane effects were mild too - we never even lost power. Thank God for keeping us safe and dry in our sturdy little house :)
Of course we knew in advance that there was a hurricane headed our way, so we tried to be prepared. In addition to having water, batteries, and other such essentials around, Daddy took Hope and Grant to the craft store to make sure that we also had plenty of fun things to do to amuse ourselves while we rode out the storm. So while it rained and howled outside, we did

some movie watching ...
some dress up (this Indian costume is Grant's big favorite) ...
some wrangling Mommy and Daddy into the dress ups ...
lunch and castle building with the Andersen's (don't you just love these Daddies?) ...
lots and lots of castle coloring ...

and, of course, more dress up! Ladan is such a nut :)
With the exception of having to bale some water from our patio in the wee hours of the morning, and some yet-to-be-accomplished yard cleanup, we were lucky not to have had much to worry about from the weather. And lucky to have had some sweet friends and kiddos to help pass the time!

Now that was a good time. I'm actually pretty impressed with the sturdiness of that castle for a mere $15! It still lives on in our downstairs...

Next time there is a blizzard, I wanna be snowed in with you guys. You could make a root canal look like fun!
