Sleep, glorious sleep!

I've been hesitant to utter a word about it, because you know that's how you ruin kid mojo right? But, here goes.

Grant is sleeping pretty darn well these days.

I think it was a combination of us resolving not to take him back out of the crib once he is in, but to lay him down and rub his back instead, him finally deciding that he is comfortable in bed, and (why didn't I realize this months ago?) his new-found love of his pillow and blanket.

I remember giving Hope the tiny pillow at the same age, I even blogged about it. But for some reason, it hadn't occurred to me to try it with Grant until recently. And it turns out, he loves snuggling on it. Mostly, he loves cuddling a blanket. I gave him the little soft 'lovey' blanket in the picture, but most nights when we walk over to turn on his rain machine he reaches over for his fleece Nemo blanket, so I think that's the preferred one. Hey, whatever works!

We've been laying him down awake, and he generally either puts himself to sleep or needs a brief back pat after a few minutes of babbling. He still wakes up at night sometimes, but we've had more full nights of sleep lately than we've had in a long time. And, I'm totally not counting on this lasting, but he's been sleeping until 7am lately instead of his usual 6:15am.

It's astonishing how much better Grant and I both do with better sleep at night :)

I KNOW the bedtime routine at your house and that it includes bathing. SO - what is smeared all over that boys face?!
