Vocabulary

Lately I find myself having a new role - Hope's translator. I'm with her so much, so it only makes sense that I usually understand what she's saying. Usually. When I catch myself explaining to someone else what she said or why she said it, it causes me to realize just how much she understands, that she can put ideas together better than I previously thought, and that she and I have a special, special bond :) Here are some of her words.

Words she says correctly:
Mama
Ice
Eyes
Hat
Hot
Hi
Doggie
Ball
Uh-oh!

Words she says:
Dad-n (Daddy)
Dit dat (kitty cat)
Oos (shoes)
Ees (keys)
Bubbums (bubbles)

Sounds she makes:
Aaah - brush your teeth
Mwa! - give a kiss
Aww - give a hug
Ohh - fake yawn
Some kind of engine sound for cars and airplanes

Animal sounds she imitates:
Moo (used to be Brrr ... don't ask me!)
Neigh
Woof
Meow (more like Aiiii)
Quack
Zzzz
Hissss
Ah Ah Ah (that's a monkey, can't you tell?)
Bock Bock (for food chicken OR farm chicken)
Roar
Whee-ooo (elephant, of course)
Baaaa

Concepts she understands:
"Put it in the hamper"
"Put it in the trash"
"Get in your special seat"
"Want some milk?"
"Give a kiss"
"Brush your teeth"
"Get your shoes"
"Let's go outside"
"Want a snack?"
"Going to Grandma & Grandpa's" (she says "woof woof!" because there are dogs there)
"Don't touch, it's hot" (she always says playground slides and coffee mugs are hot because I once told her so)
"Time for a diaper"
"Take a bath"
"Read books"
