We started the day singing "Happy Half Birthday," which we repeated probably 39 times throughout the day. She likes it! And then we launched right into making her cake.

Rather than saving the cake for later, we dug into it during lunch and a playdate with our good friends Holly and Naomi. It would be fun to show you pictures of her half-cake, but it was more fun eating it when it was still warm and gooey! Grant enjoyed visiting with Holly too :)

We took advantage of having our Halloween box out, and that night at dinner we all wore silly hats. Not the most logical way to celebrate a half-birthday, but Hope thought it was funny and I could see it becoming one of our little family traditions.

It was another homebody kind of day, the sort Hope seems to like best. And it was peppered with sweet talks about when she was a baby, how she's such a big girl now, and why we think she's special. A good day!

I think it is those silly, quirky little things that make the best memories.
Wearing the silly hats was a great idea and so appropriate for her age! Too bad we didn't see a photo of Mommy and Daddy, too!
