Whadjusay?

Most of the time, but especially in the car, Hope is a chatter-box. It will be so fun when Grant can get in on the conversation too, but for now he just watches. Our car rides are spent reenacting scenes from movies, talking about what we see around us, singing songs, and getting deeply into pretend scenarios. Or we'll just talk about the day or what we're doing, which inevitably dissolves into Hope's "whadjusay" game. It's a game that only she enjoys!

Hope: Where are we going?
Me: We're going to Miss Susan's house.
Hope: Why?
Me: Because we're going to have dinner with Miss Susan.
Hope: What did you say?
Me: We're going to have dinner with Miss Susan.
Hope: What you say, Mom?
Me: We're going to Miss Susan's house because we're going to have dinner there.
Hope: What say?
Me: We're going to Miss Susan's.
Hope: Whadjusay? Whadjusay, Mom? Whatjusay?
Me: I said we're going to the moon.
Hope: No, you said we're going to Miss Susan's house for dinner.

I gain a grey hair and lose a brain cell every time we do this routine!
