Grant will be 4 weeks old today, which doesn't seem like very much time considering how much we feel like he's always been part of the family. I was so concerned about changing our family dynamic, and worried that Hope would resent it, but so far the transition has gone well.
It helps that Daddy was home for the first 2 weeks, and was conscientious about piling heaps of attention on Hope. It's no surprise that she's been extra fond of him since then! They went on a bunch of special dates, played hours upon hours of pretend games, and got "married" at least a dozen times.
For his part, Grant's a pretty laid-back dude. He started off eating and sleeping like a champ, and really those are a baby's main responsibilities. He has since decided to prefer being held to sleeping in the crib, but at least he's pretty reliable about sleeping at night. He's also been cluster feeding some lately, which is exhausting, but we're in the window for a growth spurt so it's to be expected.

Laid-back as he may be, everybody has their moments, right? It amazes me that Hope sleeps through his crying during middle-of-the-night diaper changes, but she does. I don't know if it's the nature CDs or not, but I'm afraid to NOT turn them on just in case.

As far as Daddy and I go, we're happy. Tired, but happy. Sometimes in the hours between dinnertime and bedtime it feels like we're tag-teaming our way through meeting everyone's needs, and that feels a bit chaotic, but for the most part I think we're adjusting well.
Life is not back to normal, but we're getting a sense of what the "new normal" looks like, and that makes me feel sane. Ah, sanity. It took at least 6 weeks for sanity to return the first time around, so hey, maybe we're making progress :)
