Vacation, Day 1

We're recently back from a much-anticipated family vacation. Daddy really needed some time away from the office, and more than I realized, I needed some time to soak up "the three of us" before we become "the four of us." This trip was really all about relaxing and enjoying each other, and that's exactly what we did.

Or I should say, once we got there that's what we did. We had to fight our way through some traffic, bad directions, and bad timing. Hope didn't nap at all that day, and it was past dinnertime when we arrived, so the odds were against us. But we survived the getting settled process, were pleased with our rental home digs, and woke up raring to go the next day.

After a quick breakfast and chatting up a local about what we should see, we headed out for a little hike on the Appalachian Trail. It wasn't long or strenuous, just serene and peaceful. There was some cool scenery, to include this suspension bridge that Daddy just loved.

After our hike we ended up at a orchard/petting zoo/market. We bought some sandwiches and watched the animals put on a show. This baby cow is quite possibly the cutest animal I've ever seen. If Hope had been as enamored with it as I was, we might have had to bring him home with us!

When naptime was over, we tried out the gondola ride. The resort where we stayed is a ski resort by winter, but has crazy downhill mountain bike trails the rest of the year, so their version of a ski lift was a big fat tram that you could wheel bikes onto. I wasn't sure if Hope would be scared, but we talked it up. By the time we hopped on, she was squealing with excitement about going "up and up and up."

We were having such a good day, just going where the mood took us. It resulted in more than a few silly moments.

We capped off the afternoon with a swim. This place had a beautiful pool layout, and the biggest baby pool I've ever seen. Hope loved being able to walk all over it, play sea monster, jump off the sides to us, and of course wear her 'wimming suit!

We made a quick dinner at the house, and crashed for the night, tired but happy!
