Tooth doctor

This morning was Hope's second visit to the dentist! She was barely a year old when I took her the first time, and since she didn't enjoy it one bit back then, I was happy she didn't remember it. We've been talking this visit up for a week or so, hoping for better results.

She woke up this morning excited about going. We talked about the special toothbrush, the big chair, and the sticker she'd get at the end. And all morning we practiced showing our teeth to the 'tooth doctor.'

She continued to practice while we made our Food Link pickup.

When we got there, she was a little overwhelmed by all the unusual equipment but she wasn't upset. The "nice lady" gave her a "special bib" and gave her a ride on the big chair. Hope thought that was pretty cool ...

They offered her these cute sunglasses to keep the bright light out of her eyes, but she wanted no part of that. And just like last time, the hygenist came at her with goggles and a face mask, which made Hope nervous. She didn't cry or try to get up, and she let the hygenist open her lips and touch her teeth, but she was not on board with opening up. After all that practice!

After several minutes of coaxing, she eventually let the hygenist look around her mouth with the "tiny mirror." But that special toothbrush? That was not happening. I think we could have pushed it, but the dentist said her teeth look great and there was no need. Little teacher's pet that she's destined to be, she seemed very pleased with a good report from the "tooth doctor" and she was very thrilled to get a goodie bag with rubber ducks, a toothbrush, floss, and a bouncy ball.
Maybe it wasn't the most thorough checkup, but she did a great job and was tickled with her own success.
