All the rain had turned the parking area (a field) into a giant mudbath. Cars were stuck, mud was flying, and shoes were sucked in. The tickets weren't cheap, the seats were squished, it was muggy inside the tent, and the whole county smelled like camel poop. Much like our trip to the movies, I wondered if it would be worth it.
It was! Hope was riveted the entire two hours. She is still talking about the funny horse that drank soda, she loved the ladies who swung by their hair, she was totally into the daredevil stunts, acrobats, clowns, and animals. And she was absolutely all about the cotton candy!

She certainly got her $5 worth out of it, picking off every little shred. It didn't help that all the moisture in the air changed it from being fluffy to being gooey, but it didn't really stop her either. Here she is during the Star Spangled Banner - hand on heart, eyes on cotton candy.

Another highlight of the circus experience was riding the elephant with Grandpa. She seemed nervous about it for a second, but definitely wanted to do it anyway. She is so much like Daddy! I was the kid who wouldn't go down the water slide because I didn't want to "get my hair wet." I have a feeling Hope will want to try everything!

None of the pictures of Hope on the elephant were any good, but here's a look at the him (her?)

She tells me his ears were "smoooooooooooth." :)
Daddy got back from his trip the following day, and got lots of quality Hope time over the weekend. He made an elaborate fort in our living room, most of which she knocked down. But this part, the 'house,' remained for quite a while and provided lots of fun for them. The cats liked it too!
