Very Hope-like pics

I took a bunch of pictures of Hope today, most of which aren't great. I always seem to have too much flash or not enough (anyone know how to fix that?). Anyway, even though most of the series wasn't that good, there were a few that I really like for a variety of reasons.

I like this one because she looks exactly like I did at that age, which is just sweet :)

I like this one because it captures Hope's "tickle monster" face.

This is another frequently seen Hope face - the fake pout. It usually only lasts for a few seconds, and it's completely silent. She's a tiny bit dramatic!

This picture is definitely bad, but I LOVE that pinky finger!

And this is just pure Christmas joy. Stand by ... if I get motivated enough, it might be our Christmas card!

When I get the too-much-flash photo I try backing up, zooming in and trying again. It gives me the same shot but since I'm farther away the flash isn't so intense. Same with too little flash, try moving in closer and zooming out.

Good luck!

Ditto to what Amy said about the flash. The other thing you can do, (and this sounds sort of daunting, but it's not too complicated if you check your manual for the right buttons). In good light, particularly during daytime, turn off your flash and take a test shot. If it's clear, great. If there's blur, turn up your ISO. That's the setting with the numbers. 200, 400, 800, 1600, etc. The higher it is, the faster the pic will take, cutting down on blur. Leaving off the flash creates some pretty lighting for pictures without washing anyone out :)

Anyway, my real comment was to tell you that I really think that Hope has as many if not more hilarious facial expressions than Bean does :)

Or maybe you just need an excuse to buy a new camera? I'd like to use that excuse too!
