Wake-up call

I really like Grant. I like him even better when he gives me a decent night's sleep! And lately, he's been doing a pretty good job about sleeping until 6:30am (when his blue Sleep Buddy light goes off). He knows that's what he's ~supposed~ to do.

But over the weekend we had an incident. He came into my room closer to 5:30am, all bright eyed and bushy tailed. He flatly didn't listen when I told him to go back to bed. I was too out of it to get up and take him back to bed. I suggested he lie in my bed and go back to sleep, but he wouldn't be still and eventually got up and turned on the lights and radio. Then, with the music blaring in my sleepy ears and the light shining in my sleepy eyes, I told him to at least go to his room and play or look at books until his light went off. And he went ... or so I thought.

Apparently he didn't go to his room at all, but went instead to the garage, where he heard Daddy on his bike trainer. Daddy tells me he looked up to see Grant, in his pajamas and cowboy boots, squeezing past the car to come visit with him. He said, "What's up buddy? What are you doing in here?" Grant replied, "Mom's so GROUCHY!"

Daddy thought it was the funniest thing that ever happened. I don't deny that it was true. And now I consider that he's my wake-up call in more ways than one!
