Mom points

As the Mom, there are plenty of times when I have to say "no." And usually, Hope already knows if what she's asking for is going to be a no-go, but she figures she'll try anyway. So I find it very gratifying when I can say "yes" to one of the things she expects me to say "no" to.

This came up the other day when she accidentally spilled a bowl of dry corn flakes all over the table. She asked if we could crush them before we cleaned them up. Eh, sure, why not?

The 15 minutes of fun she had crushing those flakes was totally worth the 5 minutes it took me to vacuum afterwards!

In a few words, you paint a picture of a very good mommy. What child will remember a spotless house? They will remember if parents are shrill and condeming and they WILL remember if you delighted in them and made fun for them. Hope and Grant are blessed.

Awesome.

This is what I was thinking when I let Christopher make himself a marshmallow fluff and jelly sandwich for school the other day. Some days you have to go for the unexpected.

Caly asked me for something or to do something a few days back and after a second or two, I said yes. She started to whine to ask again, stopped, loooked up in sheer disbelief and said, "MOMMA SAID YES!"

Whatever it was, it doesn't even matter... making her grin like that from the unexpected was SO WORTH IT.

Good job mama :)
