Ahh, vacation!

We went on vacation. Vacaaaaation. Ahhh. I think we were all needing to get away, spend some quality time together, and just enjoy! We rented a great house at a lake a couple of hours away, and it's since become my favorite place.

While we were there we literally watched the forests all around us change from green to red, orange, and yellow. We hiked, we collected rocks, we did a 'treasure hunt' to see what cool stuff we could find, and of course we roasted marshmallows. But, notably, Hope somehow managed to fall asleep on the hike and she prefers her marshmallows "raw."

I used to be torn between prefering the lake or the beach. Who needs to wonder when there's a beach AT the lake?!

One day we went to Fun Land, which I thought would be cheesy. But it was actually pretty fun, and the kids definitely enjoyed it. Daddy spent some time showing Hope how to hold her club for mini-golf ...

But still, this was her standard form. Cracks me up!

We had plenty of time to be bums at the house too. Lots of wonderful, lazy, cuddly time!

I should clarify, we weren't ALL lazy. Grant practiced walking quite a bit, and he crawled up this staircase every chance he got.

Mid-way through the week we were joined by Grandma and Grandpa. They went with us to a farm, where we enjoyed some rides, met some animals, and had some playtime.

The next morning, Daddy did a triathlon. It was brutal, but he did an amazing job, as always! I was glad to have Grandma and Grandpa there to help me entertain the kids while Daddy raced. Hope enjoyed the playground, and Grant enjoyed a nap on Grandma :)

After the race, and to cap off our lake trip, we rented a boat for a few hours. Both kids seemed to enjoy it, though Grant was not a fan of the life vest. But he did like the breeze and he really liked getting to drive! Hope kind of liked her life vest because it was "puuurple, and just [her] size!"
It was so good to be in a beautiful place with my favorite people, with no agenda and no goal other than to enjoy it. And enjoy it we did!
