A few days ago, the three of us went together to my OB appointment. I told Hope we were going to hear the baby's heartbeat, and tried to explain to her what that meant. I'm sure she didn't understand, though she did pump her hands and say "Baby, heart, bum-bum-bum-bum" a hundred times.
What I forgot was that instead of just listening for the heart, we were scheduled for a full sonogram so we got to SEE the baby. Hope was ~fascinated~ beyond anything I would have imagined.
Whether or not she really understood that the tiny baby we saw on the screen was THE baby we're always talking about, I don't know. But in the few days since that appointment, here's a conversation we've had about a dozen times.
Hope: Mommy lay down. Doctor come in. Look baby belly!
Me: Yes, the doctor looked at the baby in Mommy's belly!
Hope: Mommy lay, blanket on. Doctor look. Baby belly!
Me: You're right! Did you see the baby too?
Hope: Too! Baby belly!
Me: Did you see it's tiny arms and legs?
Hope: [blank stare] .... Mommy lay down. Doctor come in. Look baby belly!
This goes on and on! Imagine what she'll think when I start getting big and she can actually feel the baby moving - we'll never hear the end of it :)

THIS from the lady who says she wouldn't know how to scrapbook!? What a cute story.....it's all here but the photos.
Most people find the journaling the hardest part but you ( and your friends) write so well on these blogs. Y'all could easily write a book on the things children say.
