It would be impossible to know Grant and not love him. He is undeniably smart, handsome as all get out, and one of the most naturally hilarious people I know. He has a style all his own, doesn't really care what other people think, and has a mushy little heart that shows itself in the most tender ways.
This year Grant joined Cub Scouts, which he seems to enjoy. I think he'll like it more and more as he gets older (I hope). Grandpa and Daddy were both very active in Scouts, so he has plenty of encouragement. Every few weeks he gets the Boys Life magazine in the mail, and eagerly reads through it with Daddy. They both say one of their favorite parts is the section where you read about boys who earned various badges for saving someone who was in danger.
Fast forward to our family decorating the Christmas tree. As usual, Daddy was under the tree trying to get it properly aligned in the tree stand. I saw that it was starting to fall and dashed over a few steps to grab it. Without missing a single beat Grant said, "Aw, man! You should have let it fall on Dad so I could be in Boys Life magazine!"
