Friends

When we moved into this community, we had high hopes that our kids would make good friends in the area. Hope had an easier time, since she was exposed to school and all the friends there. But Grant, even though he pretty much makes friends wherever he goes, still didn't really have a good local buddy until recently. Right about the time preschool ended, he got pretty tight with this little classmate, Elliott, mostly because his mom and I have become friends.

Grant and Elliott have been having weekly play dates at each others' houses, which is great for the boys and the moms. We get to host the boys one week, and have a couple of hours to ourselves the next week. And the boys have so much fun together! They play, of course, but mostly they just like to be loud and silly and laugh at each other. Elliott's mom is so encouraged by their friendship that she even changed him into the afternoon preschool class next year, so he can be with Grant again!

Hope is still super-tight with Jocelyn, from two doors down. Their friendship has really developed over these past two years, and I'm pleased to see them being more and more genuine, advocating for each other, and supporting each other. They giggle non-stop when they're together, which is whenever possible, and I think they'll be good for each other as they progress through school. It's wonderful to have a best friend so close by!
