Both kids were shy about Great-Grandad at first, but quickly warmed up to him. It certainly helped that he ordered ice cream following every meal and that he gave them countless rides on his power scooter. I don't think he could hear or quite understand much of what they said, but you could tell from watching that they were absolutely enjoying each other. (In this picture Great-Grandad was just teaching Grant how to catapult coffee creamers across the table using a spoon.)
Hope charmed him with her sweet manners, her beauty, and the pictures she drew for him while we were there. Grant, who Great-Grandad was just meeting in person for the first time, cracked him up with his non-stop energy. And, being the only grandson, it's up to him to carry on the family name!
Our trip was brief, but it was very special to see Great-Grandad. Even now, Grant is looking over my shoulder at these pictures and asking when we can see him again, and if he can come to our house, and if they can shoot cap-guns together :)

Looks like a sweet time. It enriches them to meet and know extended family.
Darling Grant can look at that final photo and see into his future! Maybe it won't occur to him for a while............ ;)
