One of the best things about kindergarten has been watching Hope learn how to read! She was pretty uninterested in learning letter sounds until the end of preschool, and started kindergarten with little to no actual reading ability. But now, at the end of the school year, she's definitely a reader! Her teacher has been wonderful about teaching them all the tricks and phonics. She's been a fantastic teacher; we're so grateful! After mastering a giant stack of sight words around Christmastime, Hope quickly moved on to sounding words out, "chunking" them, and looking for letter pairs. She still has a long way to go and you can believe we'll be practicing this summer, but this girl is a reader! Yay Hope!
