Halloween

Much to Hope's relief, school was back on for Halloween, which meant the costume parade and party went ahead as scheduled. All the kids from kindergarten through fifth grade paraded around the blacktop in their costumes, then stood together to sing a bunch of Halloween songs. It wasn't easy to see Hope with so many kids in the mix, but I managed to sneak a couple of pictures of my sweet blue butterfly!

Later that evening, Aunt Kate and Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner and to see Hope and Grant in their costumes. They were nice enough to stick around and hand out candy at our house so we could go trick-or-treating. We ended up going along with our neighbors, who have two girls close to Hope's and Grant's ages. Their dad drove the four kids around in his trailer, which surely saved them from exhausting themselves walking up all the long driveways in this neighborhood!

While we were trick or treating, we ran into these three "grandmas," who are neighborhood girls. I thought their costumes were hilarious! They are worth mentioning anyway because they are so very sweet with Hope and Grant. Two of them are in fifth grade, one is in third grade, but they still play and carry on with Hope and Grant every day. They endure endless hugs and kisses and tackles from Grant, and daily pleas to play chase and tag and jump-in-the-leaves with Hope. They rock!

We made it to nearly every house in the neighborhood, and filled the trick or treat pumpkins up plenty well. I think Hope ate every other piece that she collected while we walked around, but we let it slide. Sadly, I don't have any cute pictures of fireman Grant, but he was handsome and sweet, as always.

What a sweet night! Hope and Grant were so happy and excited....I will never forget Grant repeating "Happy Halloween!" over and over at dinner.
Also - and maybe I shouldn't point this out, but Hope really was the cutest kid at her school!
