Thankfully, elementary school in our county starts pretty late, so we still had plenty of wake up time on the big morning. But when I said, "Time to go get dressed and make your bed!" she was giddy! It was finally time to put on the outfit she'd picked out weeks earlier, and to carry the backpack she'd carefully stuffed with her school supplies!
The bus stop is within sight of our house, but it was a fun little walk nevertheless. Daddy went into work late so he could send Hope off, and of course Grant was right up in the action as usual. There were ten or so kids waiting for the bus, some we'd met already and some we hadn't. All the kids and all the parents were very friendly and encouraging! After some group shots and high fives, the bus arrived and all the kids loaded up. Hope boarded the bus holding hands with a little girl from two doors down, who she'd only just met :)
So far Hope is loving kindergarten! I keep waiting for her to say she's ready to stay home and get back to her "normal" life. That's sort of how I'm feeling! I'm loving my one-on-one time with Grant, and I'm so glad that Hope is having a great time, but I do miss her. She lights up my days! I'm happy and relieved that so far she isn't coming home exhausted and grumpy, like I've heard is normal. She doesn't offer up tons of details about her day, but I can usually get some out of her if I ask enough questions! I think the whole routine will require getting used to, but so far so good!

I could not feel more proud ( and protective ) of her! It is a good thing, for her, to start school and learn new things and spread her tiny wings...hard for us though, right?
