Well it was bound to happen sooner or later. After close to a year of being chased, pulled on, sat upon, and generally harassed ...
Penelope finally gave Grant a little scratch. She only has back claws, but somehow she managed to get him on his wrist. I was around the corner when the incident occured, but he came out saying "Ow! Ow!" I asked him to show me what happened, he dragged me into the room, pointed to Penelope, and said "Ow!" It's impossible not to feel bad that he got hurt, but maybe now - after months of me warning him away from the cat - he'll actually leave her alone! Yeah, maybe not.
Grant got another little ow today at Walmart. He was sitting happily in the seat of the cart, but managed to bump his knee on the metal bars. He whimpered for a second before saying, "Ow! Diss?" I clarified: "You want me to kiss your owie?" He nodded emphatically. Who knew he could say, or request, a kiss? I'm happily surprised :)

I have to give grouchy old Penelope credit; she tolerates a LOT. I hope this little warning from her will be the last.
Can't bear for any of you to have boo-boos!
