Girl time

Yesterday, during Grant's morning nap, Hope and I had a grand old time out on the deck. The weather was perfect, so we headed out there to plant some strawberry and tomato seeds. For anyone who doesn't know, berries and tomatoes make up at least half of Hope's summertime diet. I figured we'd try growing our own, and I figured she'd think it was fun :)

Well, it was fun for about 5 minutes. Then Hope decided that she didn't like having dirt on her hands. Rinsing her hands off in the watering can turned into playing with water. Playing with water turned into putting Cinderella in the water and calling it a bath. Playing with Cinderella turned into "let's paint our fingernails!" Painting our fingernails turned into painting rocks. Painting rocks was awesome, until a tiny spider crawled by. Then Hope decided we should come inside.

It cracks me up how uber-girlie she is, but it makes for lots of special girl time too. It was a completely fun, totally sweet way to spend an hour and a half. That's the kind of thing that makes me love my job!

You have to be VERY girlie to wear a black velvet dress to do your gardening!
Oh, and she certainly is....I love her chin on the shoulder, batting eyes "girlie-face". Got a photo of that, Mommy?
