First haircut

Hope's hair has been looking a bit scraggly lately. Straight in some places, curly in others, always hanging in her eyes, and frequently tangled in the back.

I'd been warned away from Cartoon Cuts, so we went to a cute little shop called Pigtails & Crewcuts. They had fun paintings all over the walls, toys, Curious George on the TV, and adorable police car, firetruck, and airplane chairs.

Hope was very adequately distracted by all the fun stuff around her, but Grandma let her pick out a ring to boot. She felt pretty grown up showing the lady which ring she'd picked and handing her the money all by herself.

She sat very patiently for the haircut, even though she didn't like the bits of hair that were on the wing of her airplane chair. But that was the hair we saved for her baby book. She's such a big girl now, it seems kind of crazy to still be keeping tabs on all of her 'firsts' in her baby book.

It wasn't a major haircut, really just getting rid of the dead ends in the back and cutting some bangs in the front. But it looks healthier, more comfortable, and a lot tamer now!

I couldn't believe it, but Hope even let the "haircut lady" put this little braid in her hair. She was feeling pretty proud :)

When the haircut was all over, she got a little cup of animal crackers and a prize from the treasure chest (a stretchy green horse that she is bizarrely attached to). She thought it was a pretty special occasion indeed!

Oh think of all the poor men who will be blinded by that blazing hair! Men whose hearts will leap out and lie panting on the floor when they look into those eyes!

She's TWO - how beautiful will she be when she is 22? And best of all, she is pretty on the inside, too.

I am aware that I sound like a silly old grandma to your other readers....can't help myself.

She's such a sweet pea! Where's that hair place? I need to keep that in my back pocket for future reference. (Cartoon Cuts was so meh).

And the bizarre attachments? They just keep getting weirder. (Said from a mother of a near 4 year old who currently loves a vase.)
