Sleep - the ups & downs

I spent August and September lamenting to friends and family about the challenge of getting Hope to sleep. Now, up until then, she had always been a good sleeper! We'd get her to sleep, she'd sleep all night, and wake around 8am. Awesome! But when we got back from vacation she simply forgot how that whole process works.

Some nights she'd go to bed easily, others nights it was NOT easy. And almost every night of those two months she'd wake up in the night - sometimes for 20 minutes, sometimes for two hours! Occassionally she'd be upset during those wee hours, but usually she was just remarkably, inexplicably awake.

Was it a phase? Was she teething? Was she having growing pains? Got me. But I do know this: we got serious (again) about her putting herself to sleep and I have friends who pray!

Suddenly, in the last two weeks, Hope goes to sleep super easily and happily, and sleeps all night again! Can you hear the angels rejoicing with me?!

As if that weren't good enough ... and I really hate to jinx it ... she has slept until 9am the past four days. I am a happy, happy Mama :)

I burst into "Joy to the World" after reading this (in my head of course, not out loud lest I wake my sleeping child!) I really am SO thrilled for answered prayers. Sleep really matters!
