They enjoyed dressing up for school, but neither of them was exactly excited about the costume parade this year. I think Hope is just getting too old to care about that kind of thing, though she certainly had fun goofing off with her friends instead of being in class. Grant probably would have enjoyed it, but like last year, it was tough for him to see me in the audience and not be able to be with me. Whatever this separation anxiety thing is that he's going through lately, it's been tough on us both! Fortunately, after the parade they had a quick little party in their classrooms and then came home.
This year our neighborhood had a party before trick-or-treat time. It was pretty short, but a nice chance to catch up with the neighbors and build the excitement for the kids. Afterward, we gathered our flashlights and gloves and set out! Grandma and Grandpa came over to hand out candy at our house, as they've been nice enough to do the past few years. This year they surprised us by being in costume!
