Narnia with Daddy

Daddy and Hope recently read the entire Chronicles of Narnia series, and have since devoured all the movies too. It's easy to love those books, and Hope absolutely did. I thought they'd be a bit beyond her still, but she was captivated by the adventure, fantasy, and Christian themes. She cried a little at the very end of the last book, partially because of what happened in the story, partially because she was sorry the books were finished, and partially out of happiness because the stories were just that moving.

I wasn't there, but I suspect Daddy might have shed a tear too! I know he certainly loved spending all those hours reading the stories together. He wrote this note to Hope inside the cover of the Chronicles of Narnia book:

"Dear Hope, I can not begin to tell you how much fun I have had while reading these stories to you. I have fallen more in love with you (if that were possible) while watching you fall in love with Narnia. Some day you will read them all again, maybe even to your kids or with your husband. When you do, I know you will love rediscovering Narnia and all of it's deep spiritual treasures. I love you so much! You are bold like Peter, wise like Edmund, compassionate like Lucy and thoughtful like Susan. You are a High Queen and I know you will always love Aslan and will always be a friend of Narnia! Further up, and further in! - Daddy 3/3/15"

They've moved on and have now finished The Hobbit and are into the Lord of the Rings trilogy. These special times with Daddy are something she'll never forget, no matter how old she gets!
