Science fair #2

Winning the "Outstanding Project" award for kindergarteners in last year's Science Fair was, quite possibly, the highlight of Hope's life. So it was a no-brainer that she'd enter a project in this year's Science Fair too. After attempting a project about generating electricity from a waterwheel, we finally settled on a project that was simpler and more age-appropriate - finding out what material goes down the slide the fastest. Hope rode cardboard, a trashbag, a towel, and a bunch of other things down the slide while Daddy timed her.

She tallied the results and made her display, complete with a little model slide for kids to play with. It was a hit! According to the judges' remarks, she was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her project, and very capable of explaining the science behind it. They were impressed!

So impressed, in fact, that she won AGAIN! Hooray for Hope! I know there are some schools that don't hold Science Fairs for whatever reason, but I'm so grateful that Hope's school does. What a boost for her; the accolades she got from her friends and classmates did more for her confidence than anything I could have said about how smart and wonderful I think she is. I'm a happy Mama!

Hope is everything a parent could dream of - and more.
I think her science fair achievements are indications of things to come. She is so intelligent and she combines that with the discipline to see the project through. A winner, indeed....in many ways.
