Like many others, I suppose, my kids think wrestling with Daddy is the most fun part of the day. They're lucky to have a Daddy who is so willing to devote all of his attention to them from the minute he walks in the door from work to the minute they're asleep!
They play pretty rough and rowdy, but their games inevitably turn into some variation of the theme that Daddy's the bad guy, he captures them, and they either sneak away while he's sleeping or they earn their freedom. And over the thousands of rounds of this game that they've played, two key words have developed and become standard vocabulary around here.
When you're trapped or there's a locked door or somehow you need to make passage, the magic word is "donut." It has been donut for several years, and even our friends kids know the magic word in our house!
And when it's time to go to sleep in the game, so little cute captives can sneak away from Daddy monsters, the rooster calls out (wait for it ...) cock-a-doodle-honk! Daddy falls instantly to sleep! That's a Hope original, readily adopted by Grant. Love it!

This reminds me of my Dad. He used to come home from work and no matter how tired he was, he would give my mom a break by playing with us kids all evening. He made all sorts of games that involved him lying on the ground and us running all over him. We had a magic word too... but it was just the p word... not nearly as inventive as donut :)
This is a picture of a REAL Daddy!
