St. Louis

Just before school started back up, we flew out to St. Louis to visit Great-Grandad. Hope and Grant loved spending time with him, and also the trip on the airplane, the hotel, the rental car, and the sight-seeing with Grandmom and Grandad, who also met us there.

We got to see the famous St. Louis arch, and spent some time earning Junior Ranger badges in the Louis and Clark museum there. We particularly enjoyed our quick trip through the Anheuser-Busch park, where we bottle fed some very energetic goats and where Grant stole the show at the animal park. He was picked as a volunteer for the "rat race," where they let a rat crawl across his arms. His body language was priceless - he was a real crowd pleaser!

Of course visiting with Great-Grandad was the main reason for the trip, and we all enjoyed our time at his place. Hope and Grant were initially a little shy, but they warmed up quickly and jockeyed for turns riding on Great-Grandad's scooter every time we went to or from the dining room. He had fun showing them off and watching them do their thing. He doesn't hear very well, but you could see that he enjoyed taking it all in, even if he couldn't always hear what they were saying. It was pretty special to see these four generations together again!
