A-boating we go!

We've had a string of gorgeous weekends lately, perfect for getting ourselves outside and into some adventures. We've gone on a few family bike rides, a hike, and some picnics. And we finally made it out onto the lake last weekend!

Ever since Daddy and I tried kayaking on our anniversary getaway, we've been anxious to do it again. We'd hoped to rent two double kayaks to take the kids out with us and see how they'd do. All that was available was one kayak and one canoe, but it ended up working out well. I was nervous that Grant wouldn't sit still, but he did! As long as Daddy kept that kayak moving, Grant was happy.

Hopey and I took the canoe. She was quite proud that she got her own kid-sized paddle, and I was quite proud that I managed to steer us around the lake in spite of her attempts with the kid-sized paddle! She enjoyed being out on the water and seeing the lake, but her favorite part by far was that there were fields of lily pads we could row right through. We came home with a whole bunch of flowers she picked from lily pads - how cool!

Our little boating adventure was a successful experiment and a great experience. We'll definitely do it again!

Hope and Grant are very blessed children to have you and Carl as parents. You give them so many experiences, you are amzingly patient, you teach them how to behave in this world AND you give them values. Good job Mommy and Daddy!
